Offered is a fabulous and rare 1927 art deco sterling silver dunhill unique B combination petrol liftarm sport lighter and watch. The single wheel liftarm mechanism lighter features an wavy allover modernistic deco fine engine turned design. Lighter is the large B size model watch lighter and much nicer than standard size non -sport dunhill watch lighters. This size is extremely rare and missing from many dunhill lighter collections. The liftarm hinged watch panel model dunhill was invented by leon bolle of switzerland in 1926 with the smokestack windscreen design created in 1927 by wise & greenwood of london.
The lighter is missing its original loop for chain attachment which can easily be replaced. The lighter is hallmarked 925 sterling in numerous places and has matching work numbers. The underside hallmarks have letter "M" for 1927. I have shown a 1927 dunhill catalogue watch lighter page and photos of sport with watch from the bottoni dunhill lighter book.
The high quality dunhill B size sport measures about 2-1/8" tall x 1-3/4" across x 5/8 wide and is in very good used untested condition. The flint is frozen and will require removal for use. The watch works but i suggest watch service for actual use. I do not guarantee the watch will work for extended use. The body has mild blotchy tarnish and some old caked polish remnants near mechanism that will clean. The lighter will sparkle once properly polished. The snuffer cap has slight bent which does not really detract. The dunhill is quite striking and feels great to hold in hand.
